Scholars @ Work
Open Day 2013
After receiving the Taylor’s Entrance Scholarship for Foundation in Science, I was bonded with the university to work for 84 hours. I have attended many activities such as Open Day and I was also enrolled in the PALS (Peer Assisted Learning Services) program where I tutored English subject to my fellow classmates. Basically, study sessions are facilitated by the students through collective brain storming and meaningful dialogue in the form of exciting activities to encourage their fellow classmates to study in a fun way. During the session, many activities were carried out such as discussions, problem solving, reviewing the lecture notes and working through quizzes and sample questions to better improve the student’s comprehension on a certain topic. I worked as a librarian in the Library Department as well. Overall, I think this program has helped a lot in polishing my communication skills as well as in terms of my time management. It is a very good form of exposure to me because it encourages the scholars to involve themselves in extra-curricular activities rather than just concentrating on the academics. As such, it helps in nurturing the scholars to be wholesome students who succeed not only in terms of academics but also in extra-curricular activities.
