PUSAT DARAH NEGARA VISIT
During our hematology and immunology block, we were given the opportunity to visit a blood center which is government based. We were exposed to many different blood disorders and even got an opportunity to meet with a real patient suffering from factor VIII deficiency. We were able to get a complete history taking from the patient and observe his disorder’s clinical manifestations and incorporate with what we had learned theory-wise. Besides that, we were also introduced to how blood components such as red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets were segregated. Before leaving the center, we had a discussion regarding our findings and I also took the opportunity to donate blood. Visiting the center has made me realize the important of blood donation because a single pine of blood is essential in saving numerous lives and I am very determined to be a constant blood donor in order to ease the lives of others.
