Semester 1 (Touch A Heart – Jan ’13)

Food and Beverages Stall Flash Mob

In Semester 1, Foundation in Science organized an English Term Project (ETP) called ‘Touch a Heart’. My group and I had conducted free counseling sessions for those in need of help. Besides that, to raise money, we had a fund-raising event as well where we contributed books and magazines as well as other used materials to be sold. I was in charge of the food and beverages stall and we managed to collect quite a sum of money from there as well.

Flash Mob

To further promote our fund-raising event, we carried out a flash mob around campus. It took us weeks to practice and synchronize our steps but everything turned out to be a huge success. It was a great event and all the money collected was donated to Project Bario which is an organization formed to help the less fortunate residing in the rural areas of Sabah and Sarawak.

Semester 2 (Stop and Think July '13)

Road Safety Project

In Semester 2, we conducted another fund-raising event but it is based on the idea of ‘Stop and Think’ this time around. My group did a booth on road safety where we raised awareness among the university students about the importance of abiding the rules and regulations on the road. Many activities were conducted such as quizzes, tongue twisters and games to attract passer-bys to our booth. After all the dedication and hard work placed into our booth, we emerged as the winner for ‘The Best Booth’ during the fund-raising event.

Zombie Challenge Game

Besides that, we also had a Zombie Challenge Game which was held at night and everyone was encouraged to participate in the game as well. The challenge received positive responses from our fellow university mates and it was very successful. We managed to raise a lot of money from the game as well as the fund-raiser and it was again donated to Project Bario. These events had really taught me the importance of hard work and cooperation in order to ensure that success is achieved.
